We love visiting The Lost Cajun when we are in Breckenridge because of the amazing food & their sister operation here in Glenwood is every bit as good! You would do yourself a disservice by not stopping by. Get some lobster bisque, some Et Toufe, some hush puppies sit back & enjoy!

Really nice to have something different on our x country trip. The sample platter is really nice. We got the seafood and the sausage gumbo, and both liked our respective dishes a lot. The sampler nearly swayed me from my desire for gumbo, as the bisque was excellent. Clean place, and friendly staff. Would definitely come back.

Really solid casual option in a busy tourist spot. Super friendly servers ready to answer menu questions. They provide you samples of the menu highlights when you sit down. Great lobster bisque and gumbos. My husband loves Abita's Turbodog and was elated to see they serve it here. The okra looked great, I wish we ordered that instead of the sausage appetizer. The sausage was over cooked and not very flavorful, served with a side of yellow mustard. The table next to us chose wiser with the okra. It looked hand battered and they said it was great. I was slight disappointed in the beignet batter and the étouffée but honestly overall a great menu with a very short wait time in a tourist town.

With the froggy Cajun place no longer in business, we checked this place out in hopes of finding something equally delicious. It was good, but the menu is limited to gumbo, jambalya, étouffée and a few other Cajun classics. Missing were seafood and steak options that we were hoping to find. The étouffée was good, but not as good as the froggy place. It lacked the extra kick. The side order of four fried oysters were some of the smallest oysters I've ever seen, but they were tasty. The teen raved about the lobster, but my husband was underwhelmed by the voodoo pasta.

This was a nice stop on our trip home to Denver. The begneits here were very delicious, and from the local hotel we had coupons to get them for free. We also got vegetarian gumbo, which is the first time we've seen it anywhere. This was a casual place and the staff was friendly.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. If you are 21 and up Try the "not your father's root beer". No taste of alcohol but is 5.9%

Just amazing! My wife had the red beans and rice and called it buttery and nostalgic. I had the voodoo pasta and while I would have preferred a larger portion, it was absolutely delicious! Our server was attentive and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for.

I had never had true Cajun before coming here and this little hole in the wall left me speechless. After a long day of driving from Thornton on my way to California, we stopped here on a whim and I have never made a better food-related decision. Not only were the meal options amazing, but the staff were some of the friendliest I have ever had the pleasure of talking with. Always smiling and offering their opinion, plus the chef gave us a sample platter prior to ordering. Definitely a must-eat next time your in town, and despite the drive, I will definitely be making a special trip just for this food and staff sometime in the near future!

Amazing food, super friendly staff, awesome atmosphere, you can't beat The Lost Cajun. We were welcomed by several staff when entering, got the sweet tea, po boy, and catfish platter (my fav), and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

I loved this place!!! We were greeted right away and brought a free sample of some of their food. The lobster bisque is some of the best I've ever had! The étouffée's are so tasty and the batter on the fried shrimp was fresh and tasty! The chef/owner was lively and made a point to ask us about the food; a rarity, really, in today's industry! Finally, the beignets were so fresh and a delight to eat!! We will come back for sure!!

Great food and great service! My wife loves her voodoo pasta and my catfish po boy hit the spot. I would most definitely eat here again.

My new favorite restaurant in Glenwood! Food is absolutely delicious - not a single complaint! Everything is just REALLY GOOD! Service is amazing! The staff is attentive and on top of everything! Beer selection is awesome! Kuds menu is great! I love it here!!!

The Ritz it is not - but the food is authentic and the owner is charming and entertaining. Be prepared to sit with strangers in an unpretentious restaurant - but the food is the real deal. Great gumbos. You get to sample them all.

Excellent service as soon as we walked in the door!!! The owner (I assume) was so welcoming and friendly. The decor is perfect. The large garage doors open and allow the beautiful sunshine in as well as a lovely breeze. Or they have a wonderful outdoor patio should you choose to enjoy the sunshine. The energy of the place was uplifting, and really social. It was very open and comfortable. The sampler was a nice touch. The jambalaya was missing but we still had lots of fun trying everything. The options were so good we had a hard time deciding what we wanted. We wanted to try everything. We decided on: Red beans and rice $8 for a cup- Delicious. Worth it. Fried oysters 5 for $6- Utterly delicious & flavorful. Lobster bisque $13 for a bowl- Satisfying & so yummy. Shrimp po boy $13 - Very delicious. The bun was absolutely perfect. The shrimp were crispy and just delicious. The fries were crispy and seasoned. Everything was so tasty. We would definitely recommend this place. It is also easily accessible and surrounded by plenty of cool places, or quiet streets to walk around and see while visiting.

We tried everything on the menu, it's decent food and the stars are for the atmosphere and location

Decent -- in an odd location where the front does not directly face a road, it's in a pedestrian alley-way kind of underneath the bridge over the Colorado. We didn't find it until we parked and walked along the block. It can be a little bit loud with bridge traffic, but it's OK. Also, didn't realize it was a chain, and the food tastes a little chain-like, but it's still decent and fun to have cajun/creole cooking, which I rarely have. One cool thing is they bring you a sampler of their food at the beginning (gumbos, red bean and rice, etouffee, lobster bisque) -- pretty neat. I didn't want something too heavy so got the red beans and rice, which was good, and put a little of the tabasco-like hot sauce in it. It came with some mild-garlic toasted french bread. My friend got the grilled shrimp, which he devoured and liked. We also got a side of sausage (good, mildly hot and served with mustard) and fried okra (ick -- overly battered with little flavor, only get it if you adore bland fried food that you can dip into ranch, not our thing). I really liked the beignets we ordered at the end. Hot fried dough -- but I'm a doughnut-lover, and it tasted like a hot raised doughnut minus frosting (I love that yeasty flavor) and served with powdered sugar and/or honey on the side. It didn't taste much like beignets I've had before (but I'm certainly no expert), though I was very happy! The service was nice if not too involved.

Delicious catfish po' boys and gumbo followed by some great tasting beignets! Very friendly service.

I did not expect good Cajun in glenwood but I was wrong. The coona$$ in the LSU apron blew me away with the catfish étouffée. Great gumbo and Dixie beer along with the friendliest wait staff makes this the best spot in glenwood. I'll be back tomorrow for another treat.

If you want to taste some of the best food outside New Orleans stop in here. It's authentic, down home southern NOLA food. It's as good as I've had west of the Mississippi. Wait for the free sample platter before even picking the menu. The fried shrimp was fresh and def not frozen. The portions are ample, you won't leave hungry. The prices are very fair. ($40 including tip for 2 of us). Parking can be very hard to find. On the weekends the Colorado mountain college (1/2 block up, across the street) has free parking.

I ran into the owner of this location and told him of my experience a few weeks ago and he was genuinely upset and embarrassed about the poor service my wife and I had received. He told me to bring my wife back in so he could make it up to us but before we could the very next day one of his employees came by my work with what I tried ordering a couple weeks back. Not only did he feed me but he brought in enough food for my crew which was above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely be back.

Authentic Cajun/New Orleans fare from someone who knows gumbo from étouffée from red beans and rice. If you don't, ask for the free sampler and order a bowl of any one of them and you can't go wrong. Ask about the cat-toufee!!

My office ordered food today, from The Lost Cajun, in Glenwood Springs. I had the Red Beans and Rice... it was Bland.

The Lost Cajun was our favorite restaurant in Glenwood Springs. We had several cups of gumbo, catfish, and fries. They were all outstanding. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, and the staff really wanted you to think you were in Louisiana...friendly and fun people. Abita beer made me think I was back in Baton Rouge. I would go there before going back to any other restaurants in Glenwood Springs, and we had good meals at the others. This place was just fun!!! Geaux Tigers.

  • Jamie C.

Delicious!! And amazing service! They give you samples of the gumbo to taste, and all were so yummy. We had the chicken & sausage gumbo, hush puppies, fried okra, sausage, and beignets and everything was so tasty. And seriously such friendly and attentive service. Loved it.

I believe that the sign of a great restaurant for me is when it is the day after my visit and I am still praising it. The Lost Cajun is that kind of place for me. The free samples before we had even ordered, started us off on the right foot. I am in love with the étouffée . This place is also great for large families. My only complaint is that the service is a bit slow.

I'm from Cajun Country, Louisiana and The Lost Cajun was a disappointment. I wanted to give 2.5 stars, but because I had to choose between 2 or 3, I chose 2. Highs: They bring you a free sampler of their Louisiana favorites, such as chicken and sausage gumbo (good), crawfish étouffée (so-so), red beans and rice (also yummy). They serve Abita beer. My husband did enjoy the fried catfish and the 4 fried shrimp he ordered on the side. I enjoyed the zydeco music. Lows: While my husband was brought 4 nice, Medium-sized shrimp as a side order, the shrimp I received on my po-boy were SMALL and not nearly as tasty as his. This was extremely disappointing! The bread on both our po-boys was soggy and overloaded with butter and smeared with mayo. The music could have been just a tad lower. The shrimp issue is unforgivable. Why on earth would anyone think I'd want the small shrimp they served on my po-boy when comparing it to the fried shrimp they served my husband as a side?

Steer clear, thin gumbo with not much taste, ordered the chicken "nuggets" (ROCKS) for my 4 year old daughter, thought I was going to have to take her to the dentist, thank goodness she didn't like them..... Sadly another restaurant enters the mediocre food service market of Glenwood Springs..... High hopes dashed.. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this restaurant to my friends. ..

Great food, service n fun for kids. They start with a free sampler of 6 gumbos. 3 of them were taste sensations with with 2 favorite being the lobster bisque n Crawfish. Someone put a lot of effort into the sauces, rich n flavorful. Even though it was a Friday night at 6:30 servers were attentive, warm n helpful. U got the feeling they were glad we were there. My 3 n 11 year old enjoyed doing chalk drawings on the floor n wearing the free beads. I guess I did too. Well done

I had the sausage and chicken gumbo. The wife had the jambalaya and the red beans and rice - one cup each. The cups were plenty big enough and the bowl is huge! I also had a side of catfish fillets which were amazing! Basically, I love this place.

First of all I must say the staff was so friendly and welcoming. We have been coming to Glenwood Springs for over ten years and this was one of the best meals ever. From the samples we both decided on the catouffe. Delicious. The end to a perfect meal was the heart-shaped beignet that Chef Mike made us for our 20th anniversary.

Food here is outstanding, just like New Orleans! We tried every thing. Gumbo, fried okra, hush puppies, Étouffée, Red Beans and Rice, and Beignets! Yummmmmmy. Flavor is the food is so great you can't stop eating.

We went for lunch our first day in Glenwood, they give you a free sample plate. It was amazing and the service was great which in Glenwood seems hard to find at least that has been our experience. People and food are great here!!

Food is fantastic!! After being unbelievably hesitant about coming here (not a fan of Cajun food a few bad experiences) I am so so so grateful my husband insisted. I had the fried catfish poboy. Sensational, especially with the hot sauce at the table. He had the lobster bisque also amazing! Very cool vibe. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

I wasn't expecting much from Cajun food in Colorado, but The Lost Cajun is very much the real deal and it is excellent. The Crawfish Etouffee is my favorite, but it's all good. Food is served with authentic southern hospitality.

  • Gregory P.

Happily surprised when we found this place while looking for another (which had closed; boo). The crawfish etouffee was great - thick and very flavorful. The sampler of gumbos and etouffee they give you when you sit down is a nice touch - but I think it also revealed that the gumbos are kind of thin. But the etouffee is great, and the sandwiches of sausage and catfish were very good, too. Very casual; it would be good for kids (kids menu looks fine).

Best Cajun in colorado. Used to live in La and this is one of the best outside the state. Great gumbos and beignets.

  • Denise G.

Amazing and authentic Cajun cooking. As soon as we sat down, we were warmly greeted and a sampler of gumbos, étouffées and red beans and rice appeared. Yummy all of it, making decisions very difficult. We ended up ordering way too much food but had no regrets as it was all delish! owners and chefs were really fun to talk to and will definitely be back!! Pass on the good word!!

It was raining very hard and my boyfriend and I were looking for a decently priced place to eat. A lady came running out of this resturant and lured us in with promises of free gumbo samples and shelter from the storm! The service was great, attentive, friendly, and we even got a free beignet! The gumbo samples were all very good, the lobster bisque was absolutely delicious, and the voodoo pasta my guy ordered was very yummy. We could tell the place hadn't been open very long, it was very clean, the decor was amazing, nice, clean bathrooms! It was also fun that the chef was cooking where you could see/talk to him. Will return, and recommend to others for sure!!!

If I had been in Glenwood more than one night I would have had breakfast lunch and dinner there every day! Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Was there in July but just getting around to rating. I had a not so great beignet this morning near my house in Aurora and found myself missing The Lost Cajun.

This place was horrible, the service was bad and the food was decent but very expensive. Our waiter have me a drink with a bug in it and knew it was in there so she stirred the drink to hide it luckily we found it. This place is horrible

  • Gerrie T.

When we were seated we were told that they were out of catfish and red beans and rice. I was very disappointed that they were out of catfish being that this ingredient was in most of their options. The waitress brought a sampling of the 3 gumbos they had available, crawfish, shrimp, and chicken. They all tasted the same. I am from the south where great gumbo is made this did not even compare. My husband and I ended choosing the shrimp po boy ($12) and the andouille sausage po boy ($8) neither one came with any sides which for their prices should have. The sandwiches were small and not that great. I ordered some biegnets because they said they had the best. They were not that good at all...very doughy with not a lot of flavor. We will not be back it was a very disappointing dining experience.

I'm so happy about this place. We went Friday night and it was packed! They server was great and the owner wandered around chatting with everyone. They gave us local punch cards, buy X amount, get one free. Score. I love the outdoor seating/open air environment for summer. The prices were a little high for the size of the po-boys. I don't suggest lowering the price, but I suggest making them bigger, we were both still wanting more when we finished. They were delicious!! They also offered a sample platter when we arrived to try the different gumbos. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the size of the sandwich and the fact that we were ready to pay and our server disappeared for a good 10 min. There were people waiting to be seated but we were waiting to pay. All in all, we'll be back often, if only I could get the shrip po-boy delivered...

Stopped here on our way to a family event and couldn't have been happier. The food was good - I loved my crawfish etouffee and my husband didn't even want to share his red beans and rice. It's such a treat to find something that isn't typical American food in an area which definitely caters to tourists. We loved it so much we stopped again on our return trip - this time eating the vegetarian gumbo and seafood gumbo. Both times we ended with an order of beignets. The restaurant has an upbeat welcoming feel with a cheerful and helpful staff. We wish it was closer to home - we'd go there again!

Delicious food and excellent service. We have dined here several times and it's become one of our favorite restaurants when my family is in the area.

Wonderful food ! we really enjoyed the sampler, which helped us pick out the Lobster Bisque, red beans with sausage, and the crawfish étouffée. The hush puppies were soooo good !. The owner and his family could use a hand on busy nights, but otherwise the service was excellent, and the food was deliecious ! we'll be back for sure !

  • Staci M.

So good!!! Wish we had found this place day one of our vacation! Shrimp and lobster bisque is amazing. Fried turkeys on thanksgiving. Great location downtown. Friendly people! Great service. A must try. Casual, fun and delicious! They give a sampler of gumbos before you order!

  • Leonard S.

Stir-fried shrimp was tender and delicious. Catfish was also great. Everything was so salty! Otherwise, I'd give more stars. The waitstaff was attentive and the kitchen was generous. The saltiness was worrisome. Almost everything had pepper, too, which was all to similar.

Food was solid but the people and atmosphere really make this place a great place to stop. Especially great for kids. Really can't say enough great things about the staff.

Great food and upbeat atmosphere. The staff are friendly and energetic. Good place to watch football. We will be back when in town.

Probably won't come here often. Not a fan of fish and it was pretty much the only choice except spicy sausage and chicken gumbo. I've been here twice and the 1st time I got the chicken gumbo. Not bad but not great. Today I tried the sausage po'boy. If I get it again I'll ask for it without mustard, which overpowered the overcooked spicy sausage. Potato salad was good, though! The music was waaayyyy too loud.

Wow, fun soft opening! Great atmosphere, boisterous, friendly staff and fantastic food. I went with my daughter, son-in-law and 3 toddlers ages 1, 2 & 4 who all loved the atmosphere and couldn't get enough gumbo and hush puppies. One picky eater enjoyed chicken nuggets and french fries. It really was all fantastic and we will be back. Glad to see my daughter Megan working in such a great place.

Food tasted very authentic pretty pricey but worth it. Service wasn't great for the amount of people that were in there ,maybe two or three tables but food was really excellent and had lots of flavor

  • Steve H.

First off, I've worked in the restaurant industry for years, and have only ever comlained about a restaurant once before! Just got done eating here. Food was good (not worth the $60 bill though). Service was atrocious!!! They had at least 5 servers that I saw, and only maybe 8 tables sat and all of them were just standing around chit chatting while tables sat with empty beverages (our drinks as well) or waiting for their bill (like the table next to us). I could've waited on all the tables by myself, and given better service!! They never brought the sample tray that everyone is supposed to get at the beginning, my fiancé's food came out about ten minutes before mine, the manager finally came over to ask how things were after watching us look around for 10-15 minutes, and when we politely mentioned that we've been waiting for my food and our refills, she not only didn't apologize, but she seemed like she was trying to cut off our complaint as if we were the bad guys for wanting decent service!! In her defense, she didn't seem like the brightest bulb! She just gave us a free dessert that we didn't even want. Bottom line: good food, but over priced, and ridiculously inattentive wait staff! Would not recommend this place except maybe for take out! Oh yeah, as we left we saw why so people were waiting around for food, drinks, or their check; it was because half the floor staff was outside smoking cigarettes!! Classy!! If the service is always like this, this place won't last two years!! Sorry Lost Cajun, you guys need to pull your servers' heads out of their butts!
